Inflammation After Hair Transplant

There are lots of aesthetic, cosmetic, and plastic surgery types that can be performed in both hospitals and aesthetic clinics. Hair transplantation procedures are one of the most performed procedures in the world. You do not witness the cutthroat aesthetic procedures of the past now.

Even the most invasive procedures are considered safe by most surgeons. However, in most cases, complications are sometimes inevitable. Especially inflammation after a hair transplant is a common one when it comes to speaking of complications.

Most hair transplantation complications are not supposed to be called complications if patients do not experience them at severe levels. For example, swelling is one of the most common hair transplantation procedures. Even the surrounding area of eyes suffer from swelling after hair transplantation surgery.

However, it’s actually how a person’s immune system reacts to hair transplantation treatment. If a hair transplant patient experiences severe swelling, such severe that he can’t even open his eyes, this is a true complication and the person should see his doctor immediately.

Inflammation is actually a result of your immune system’s actions to protect you from harmful microorganisms and germs. During a standard hair transplantation procedure, your hair follicles are planted on the microchannels that are opened by your surgeon. Because of this process, your immune system targets your hair follicles because it thinks that they are a threat to your health.

This interference between your hair follicles and your immune system will result in inflammation over your scalp. This is really a common complication among hair transplantation patients.

You may experience redness over your hair transplantation area because of inflammation. If any of those complications are not so annoying to you, you do not need to do anything about them, all you should do is wait.

However, if you suffer from severe inflammation or redness which may even turn to an infection, you should immediately visit your doctor.
